Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us!…
Hebrews 12:1 (CEV)
There are witnesses surrounding us. There are people watching.
They’re watching to see if we live according to God’s commands, if we’re really what we claim to be, if they want what we have.
Will they see that? Will they see what they should see, what we should be showing?
They should see us show love to everyone we met, no matter who they are or what the circumstances may be or how we might be feeling at the moment.
They should see us being honest, even if we could get away with keeping the extra change, even if telling the truth might get us in trouble, or whatever the case may be.
They should see us working hard but not being a slave to work or being a workaholic.
They should see us worshiping on Sunday and every other day of the week.
They should see us being loyal and kind and understanding and patient and encouraging and joyful and prayerful and trusting and obedient and respectful and humble and submissive.
In short, they should see us being who we’re supposed to be: followers of Jesus. Children of God. Imitators of Christ.
Because when they see us like that, they get a glimpse of what God is like. We are His image-bearers, His letter and picture to the world.
There’s people watching you, watching me. What are they seeing?
I know I don’t often really think about the fact that people watch me untill somone tells me that they do! I want them to see Christ in me and not just know me by my likes and hobbies.
Amen! š
