Unnecessary Blessings

This year I’ve been trying to thank God for the small things, for things that are so normal we don’t even think about them. I try to thank Him for the unnecessary blessings, the things we don’t need but that He decided to give us anyway.

I’ve written down things like puzzles, tea, sweatshirts, cupcakes, music, and books. Winter wonderlands that take away my breath. Pictures. Jellybeans. Colors. Humor and laughter. Imagination. Cute babies. Little children’s singing. Flowers. Air-conditioning. Cotton candy. Fireworks. Butterflies. Fancy dresses (suits for the guys 🙂 ). Markers. Hugs. The feel of cold water on a dry throat. Watching movies with my family. Silly songs. Children falling asleep on me.

Small things.

Unnecessary things.

We don’t need them. We could survive without them. God could have never created them and we would never know the difference.

But He did create them. He gave us the ability to enjoy things and He filled our world with things to enjoy. He loves seeing us taking delight in all this.

What are some unnecessary things you’re glad God has blessed you with?
