Choose Life

…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life…

Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)

Choose life.

Look on the bright side; find reasons to be happy.

Forgive. Don’t hold grudges; let go of the past.

Spend time with your family.

Love.

Notice the little things and delight in them.

Laugh.

Slow down and savor the drink, the food, the view, the silence, the whatever.

Be patient and content.

Compliment others; be lavish with encouragement. Tell them you appreciate them.

Have good attitudes.

Make memories. Do stuff. Go somewhere. Hang out. Talk.

Help someone else out.

Sing along to the song,
even if you aren’t (in your opinion) a good singer,
even if you don’t know all the words and notes perfectly.

Don’t be afraid to act goofy, to do silly things.

Do things that make you happy,
that make others happy,
(but most importantly) that make God happy.

Choose life.

We know it well. . . Do we perhaps know it “too well”? Have we become calloused to it? Do we just let the familiar words/thoughts wash over us?

The heavens speak of God–do we listen, pay attention? The earth is full of God’s riches–do we seek and cherish them? The beauty of Jesus can be found in ordinary today–do we pause to see and admire?
